Thailand and China Stand Up the First Bilateral AI Weather-Disaster Lab, Built on MAZU

Announced at the meteorological sub-forum of the 2026 World AI Conference in Shanghai on July 17: China and Thailand will build a joint laboratory for intelligent prediction and early warning of meteorological disasters, described as the world's first bilateral cooperation lab for AI-powered meteorological applications. China Packages Fengyun Satellites Into an AI Box for Developing Countries as MAZU Reaches 40+ Nations

At the same WAIC forum, the China Meteorological Administration unveiled the MAZU-FengYun Satellite AI Box, an integrated hardware-plus-software platform combining Fengyun meteorological satellite data reception, AI inference, and operational forecasting, aimed at countries that lack their own satellite ground infrastructure. Development Banks Put a Record $163 Billion Into Climate Finance in 2025, With Adaptation Growing Fastest

The ten major multilateral development banks reported joint climate finance of a record $163 billion for 2025, up 19 percent year on year, in a joint report released July 13. Laguna Province Moves to Build an AI-Powered Disaster Command Center for Its 24 Municipalities and Six Cities

The provincial government of Laguna, in the typhoon-exposed CALABARZON region south of Manila, plans to build an AI-powered command center to boost disaster preparedness, per ABS-CBN reporting of July 19.
